Fox announces new Release Dates including "Gambit", "Assassin's Creed", "Fantastic Four 2", and the "Planet of the Apes" sequel

20th Century Fox has announced a few new and updated release dates today. Gambit (The fan anticipated X-Men spinoff film) has finally been announced for an October 2016 release staring Channing Tatum, while the Assassin's Creed film starring Michael Fassbender has been set for December 2016. Other films on this release slate also include Fantastic Four 2, an Untitled Planet of the Apes sequel, Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates, The Greatest Showman on Earth, & The Mountain Between Us.

The release slate is as follows...

  •     July 29, 2016 - Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates
  •     October 7, 2016 - Gambit
  •     December 21, 2016 - Assassin’s Creed
  •     December 25, 2016 - The Greatest Showman on Earth
  •     February 10, 2017 - The Mountain Between Us
  •     June 2, 2017 - Fantastic Four 2
  •     July 14, 2017 - Untitled Planet of the Apes sequel

Originally set for July 14, 2017, Fantastic Four 2 has been moved to June 2, 2017. Now Fox has place the currently untitled sequel for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes in its place. I would keep in mind that Fantastic Four 2 may or may not happen depending on the success of the first film coming later this year.
After a couple of rewrites and a few release date changes, Fox has now settled on a December 21, 2016 release date for Assassin's Creed,. But after so many changes to this date in the past, I wouldn't be surprised if it happened again. I found it particularly interesting that they chose to now release the film during the holiday season. Assassins Creed is certainly not a film that I feel would fit in that time frame, and all the previous release dates have been during the summer movie season (which is where I think the film would work best).

Earlier today, Channing Tatum had hinted at a release date for Gambit on Twitter, Fox then later confirmed the release date.
